Branded marketing

Branded marketing

measure is very important to contemporary organisations. Corporate brand has become a valuable asset for a company, which some times have value beyond the book value.
To answer the question stated above it is important to explain what a corporate brand is. It is also important to look into the issue how a corporate brand is beneficial to an organization. What kind of financial benefit it can provide to an organization and to what extent it helps organisations to gain competitive advantages over its competitors.

There are several definitions of corporate brands presented by different authors and scholars. Some of the defamations are as follow:

David A. Aaker defined corporate brand as “a corporate brand that will define the corporate heritage, assets and capabilities, people, values and priorities, a local or global frame of reference, and a formance record.”

(Brand portfolio strategy by David A. Aaker, California management review vol46 no3 spring 2004.)

According to Balmer (2003) the corporate brand is seen as a covenanted identity, which is viewed as independent and distinct. Balmer (2001) developed the mnemonic C2ITE (Cultural, intricate, tangible, ethereal and commitment), reflecting the corporate brands.

While Lawer and Knox (2004) states that a corporate brand is a way to conceive, manage and communicate corporate brand values in order to guide managerial decisions, actions and normative firm behaviour. It can then state that the brand is generally the name of a product or a mark of ownership.

So being able to express its self is true and openly and then communicate the message to its consumers clearly.

“The corporate branding philosophy, at it’s core, represents an explicit covenant between organisations and it’s key stakeholder groups, including customers” (Balmer & Greyser, 2003)

Corporate branding can be defined as “corporate brand brand name.” It is an attempt to leverage corporate brand equity to create product brand recognition. ”

wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_branding

The keeping of an organization promise can lead to corporate brand equity; This is what consumers hold, strong, and unique associations about the brand in memory (Keller 1993). David Beckham said, “I can not even imagine using any nothing else then Adidas”. Though he is the contracted model for Adidas. This made sports people with money buy that item. Rolex watches can also be for example, Rolex watches for high-class people. This makes people with money buy the Rolex watches to show the class. This is the brand equity of Adidas and Rolex.

Brand equity can be transferred to other products as well. This can be seen in the case of VW buying the Skoda. Before VW got Skoda’s sales declining but in recent years Skoda’s Skoda’s transfer of its brand equity. G.M motors have also bought different corporate brands such as Daewoo and Volvo and have transferred the brand equity to them brands.

This does not stop here there are many benefits of corporate brand. Newman (2001) suggests that the success rate of a new product or service may be a corporate brand behind it. Also costs could be reduced when launching the product or service.

Take a Leap Into the Unknown: 4 Exciting Bungee Jump Techniques!

Take a Leap Into the Unknown: 4 Exciting Bungee Jump Techniques!

For many, a bungee jump is a once-in-a-lifetime, adrenaline-filled activity that you’ll remember forever – and you’ll forever be able to tell people about your jump! There are many ways to skin a cat, and some of these bungee jump techniques will make your jump even more memorable. Whether you’re a seasoned jumper or will only take the plunge once in your life, there is a thrilling technique out there for you.
Feel Like You Can Fly Techniques!

The Swallow Dive is one of the most popular jump styles in use today, and for good reason! Especially beloved by adrenaline seekers, you have to take a big running jump off the platform with your arms stretched out as wide as possible (like a swallow). This will let you soar through the sky to the ground below. There will be a huge adrenaline rush as you feel like you’re flying through the air… and as an added bonus, as the cord begins stretching you will be pointing downwards – perfect for a smooth and easy deceleration.

Be aware: if the body harness you’re kitted out with has a front cord attachment, ensure you twist 180 degrees so by the time the cord tightens out you’re facing upwards. Don’t worry, your instructor will know all this! But the more you know before your jump, the more relaxed you’ll be before the big event.

The Bat Drop is a little trickier than the swallow dive, and much more daring! For this jump style you’ll have to be positioned hanging upside down (!!!) on the edge of the platform. Someone else will need to be holding your feet, and once they release you you’ll shoot off like a bat or vampire into the darkness of the night!

The Back Dive is another jump which is considered to be a little more difficult. You’ll really need to put your all into launching off the platform so that when you’re at the end of your fall, your head will be pointing straight down. Just like the swallow dive, be sure to be facing upwards at the end of your jump if you happen to be using a front-connected body harness.

The Elevator is a technique you’ll definitely have seen somewhere before. You simply step off the platform with your feet pointing down at the ground, and when you reach the end of the bungee you’ll be automatically flipped the right way round.

Top tip: only do the Elevator if you have access to a rubber (Kiwi/ Euro) cord to avoid hurting yourself and doing your ankles some serious harm!

Jump Safely, Jump Insured

Whether you’re going for the jump of a lifetime or plan to tick off all of our suggested bungee jump techniques, make sure your travel insurance covers you. Let’s Go Insure offers cover for one or multiple jumps, and our friendly staff are on hand to help you with getting covered for all of your daredevil antics!

Courmayeur: the Ski Resort for Gourmands

Courmayeur: the Ski Resort for Gourmands

The Italian ski resort of Courmayeur has a rich tradition of fine-dining and gastronomy. It is a culture which the town is proud to celebrate in events throughout the year, including a range of food festivals highlighting everything from traditional local fare to international haute cuisine.
A Destination for Some of the World’s Top Chefs

It is this history of excellent food which has attracted many of the world’s leading chefs to the resort over the years. Leading names such as Heston Blumenthal, Sat Bains, Claude Bosi, Marcus Wareing and Jason Atherton have all made the journey from Geneva to Courmayeur to create gourmet experiences in the resort.

Blumenthal is so enamoured with the resort and its culinary pedigree that for the last four years he has hosted his own Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience in which he and other leading chefs create a gastronomic mountain treat for a select clientele.

Bookings are now available for the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience 2018 (20-23 March).

Excellent Restaurants

Alongside the famous names with their Michelin stars are a fantastic range of local restaurants, many of them family-run, which serve excellent local cuisine of an exceptionally high standard.

There are so many that it can be hard to choose which to visit during a short stay, so here are my suggestions for the best places to eat in Courmayeur.

• Hotel Christiania Set in Plan Checrouit, the restaurant at the Hotel Christiania is run by its enthusiastic owners Carlo and Marisa. This is the place to come if you want to enjoy a leisurely lunch of pizza and pasta, done the authentic Italian way. Sit on the sunny terrace and soak up the atmosphere in this excellent eatery.

• Maison Vieille The food in the mountain restaurants of the resort is so good that the authorities have extended the hours of the cable car to midnight so that visitors can enjoy supper under the stars at restaurants like Maison Vieille. Here you will enjoy local meats, pastas and a range of delectable deserts. The wine list here is wonderful, full of local wines that the owners will encourage you to try.

• Chiecco For fine dining on the slopes, check out the traditional wooden chalet just above Plan Checrouit which houses Chiecco. The menu is made up of local produce and includes such mouth-watering treats as wild boar and polenta, ricotta ravioli and excellent ragùs.

• Chateau Branlant Dinner at the Chateau Branlant starts off with an exciting snow mobile ride from the top of the Dolonne or Courmayeur gondolas to the restaurant, with another one back at the end of your night. If this wasn’t reason enough to visit, then the delicious, authentic Italian cuisine should be. My advice is to try the daily specials, which are usually the best thing on what is always an exquisite menu.

Getting There

Foodies will have no trouble getting to the resort thanks to the wide range of flights into Geneva from the UK. The transfer journey from Geneva to Courmayeur takes around an hour and a half.

For an executive transfer from Geneva to Courmayeur, book online with Shuttle Direct before you leave home and one of our drivers will be waiting to meet you when you land.

3 Tips for HVAC System Efficiency Clean Room

3 Tips for HVAC System Efficiency Clean Room

For many technical and scientific buildings, it takes a clean space. Most of their work can be changed even by the smallest contaminant in the room. But workers can not work in a vacuum, therefore the clean room HVAC system is very important. It will decorate clean air into the room while maintaining temperature control. Here are 3 tips to save costs while keeping the integrity of sterile space.

Configure the Face Speed 3 Tips for HVAC System Efficiency Clean Room

Air handlers provide sterile air by passing air over the filter. The rate at which this occurs is known as face velocity. Often, air handlers use small handlers with multiple filters folded for air to flow. This process requires a lot of energy for a large fan to move air to the entire face area. By reducing the tone of the face and making it wider, the smaller fan will move the air more efficiently through the handler with lower speed. By using a high efficiency fan, the cost to operate the system is reduced even more.

Variable Speed3 Tips for HVAC System Efficiency Clean Room

In order for the clean room to remain clean, the temperature remains at a very low point to prevent bacteria and other pathogens from growing. All of the different motors in the refrigerating apparatus greatly contribute to the overall energy consumption indoors. One way to control costs is to use a motor equipped with variable speed control. This allows the motor to work at a slower speed during down time and does not create that much heat energy. Without that much heat energy, the cooling unit has an easier time maintaining the temperature.

Dedicated Load Settings

Many clean room HVAC systems are designed to cool the room during working hours. Temperature is controlled by cold water that flows through the cooling loop in the room. There is no temperature variation, so water should be kept at one temperature whether one is working or not. By creating two separate settings for different times of the day, the system does not have to continuously process cold water through the room. Even slowing the flow of water in a cooling pipe can have a dramatic effect on energy consumption without losing its effectiveness.

A clean room HVAC system can use up to half of the electricity budget for a company. Most of the energy consumed is often wasted during non-peak hours or with inefficient equipment. While cost efficiency improves more money in the beginning, it can be more than paying design and equipment costs over time.

Keeping your Winter Holiday Green

Keeping your Winter Holiday Green

We live in a time where people are becoming increasingly eco-conscious, and both cor-porations and individuals are doing more than ever to reduce their carbon footprint. This is fantastic news and very important in a bid to protect our planet and reduce the impact of global warming, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The good news is that even small changes can have a huge impact.
As a rapidly growing industry that’s set in natural surroundings, the skiing community must look for ways to keep winter holidays green without compromising on the quality of stays in catered ski chalets and shredding powder on the mountain. If you have a ski trip coming up and want to do your bit, here are a few simple ways to have an eco-friendly holiday.

Public Transportation

One great way to protect the environment is to opt for public transportation instead of taking your own car. The local public transport system is usually free with a lift pass, and offers a good chance to make a few new friends along the way. Using the local train network is also a good option if you want to venture outside of the resort and explore.

Recycling in Your Chalet

There has been a huge push to encourage recycling in ski resorts in recent years. Simply separate your rubbish from what can be recycled and take it down to the recycling point. This only takes a few minutes, but has a very positive impact on the environment.

Gear from Eco-Friendly Companies

There are a growing number of eco-friendly ski and snowboard companies that provide gear that does not harm the environment. This includes using eco-friendly waxes on snowboards and skis that are made from sustainable, reclaimed or recycled materials. For a great and guilt-free experience in the snow, why not consider renting or buying this equipment from a company that is doing its part to save our planet?

Chalet Hire from Reputable Companies

One of the easiest ways to go green is to book your catered ski chalet from a reputable company that has actively taken steps to combat damaging the environment. Take your time to research the company, and keep your eyes peeled for those that adhere to an AITO recognised environmental policy.

Getting There

Transport is always a concern when it comes to green holidays. Flying can produce three times more CO2 emissions per passenger than other forms of public transportation, so avoid this if possible. Good alternatives include driving (car shares are even better) and going by train (there are many stations throughout the Alps).

Offset Carbon

If you do decide to fly, you can still do your bit by offsetting your carbon (certain airlines provide this option at the time of booking). A few options include getting a shared transfer or bus from the airport/train station and using a transfer company that offsets their carbon.

Adhering to Resort Environmental Issues

If you choose a resort that has environmentally friendly practices in place, be sure to ad-here to these during your stay. The staff members know how to best protect the site, and they can make it easy for you to do your bit whilst still enjoying your stay.

Never has it been more important for people to reduce their environmental impact than today. Fortunately, this can be relatively straightforward during a stay in a catered ski chalet, and will allow us all to continue skiing without damaging the beautiful surround-ings.

The essential Ta-Nehisi Coates

The essential Ta-Nehisi Coates

Bestselling author Ta-Nehisi Coates pulls no punches in his writings about race relations in America. This morning, he discusses the fine print with our Martha Teichner:

It’s not all that often that a guy who writes about race can sell out a 3,000-seat theater … on a weeknight, especially. But Ta-Nehisi Coates routinely has fans — as many white as black — lined up around the block for tough talk some Americans might be uncomfortable hearing.

“If you are attempting to study American history and you don’t understand the force of white supremacy, you fundamentally misunderstand America,” he told an audience last month at the Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, D.C.

Teichner asked Coates, “Who is your audience?”

“Well, first of all I’m talking to myself,” he laughed. “Secondly, it’s probably young African-American kids who came up like me.”

ONE WORLD
“But whole bunches of white people buy your books in large numbers.”

“Yeah, I know, and I don’t know why it is!”

“Are you surprised?”

“Yes. I mean, I’m not surprised anymore, but initially I was very surprised.”

His latest book, “We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy” by Ta-Nehisi Coates (One World), an expanded version of essays he wrote for The Atlantic since 2008, was an instant bestseller. His last, a letter to his son about the hazards of being a black male in America (“Between the World and Me”), spent 80 weeks on The New York Times list. It won the National Book Award in 2015, the same year Ta-Nehisi Coates received a so-called MacArthur “genius grant.”

“To be black in the Baltimore of my youth was to be naked before the elements of the world, before all the guns, fists, knives, crack, rape, and disease. The nakedness is not an error, nor pathology. The nakedness is the correct and intended result of policy, the predictable upshot of people forced for centuries to live under fear.”

Coates said, “I try to write in such a way that it makes people feel things. I don’t want them to read what I’m writing and just say, ‘I think that’s right’ and agree with me. I want them to read something and then walk away and be haunted by it.”

Forty-two now, Coates grew up in Baltimore surrounded by violence … and books. His father, Paul Coates, a one-time Black Panther, published forgotten African-American writers in his basement, and worked for years as a research librarian at historically black Howard University, in Washington, D.C.

Author and essayist Ta-Nehisi Coates with correspondent Martha Teichner. CBS NEWS
Touring the university’s library, where Ta-Nehisi would come as a child with his father, Paul Coates said, “Much of this collection is older than the university. It’s older than 150 years; it goes back to the abolitionist period. I feel that energy when I enter this space.

“I wanted [Ta-Nehisi] to be connected to his community,” Paul said. “I wanted him to give back and understand that he was not separate from his community, that his successes could only be the successes of his community, and that his community was actually his lifeblood.”

Later, as a Howard student in the mid-’90s, Coates practically lived in this library. “You literally could go through that card catalog back there and in my recollection, it was almost anything I wanted to read written by a black author, I could just go get. I felt liberated in here.”

Ta-Nehisi Coates on the writing process
Howard, for him, was an awakening — less about his classes, more about self-education, experiencing a whole world in a small space: “You would meet students from Africa here, students from the Caribbean,” he said.

Although he didn’t graduate, it was at Howard that he began to write, and where he made friends with another student, Prince Jones, whose killing by police in 2000 as he drove to his fiance’s home, galvanized Coates’ rage, and made him the writer he is now.

“I had somebody who I knew, a living person whose life had value, and it was taken through no fault of his own,” Coates said. “I write what I write in the way that I write it. I’m not being abstract, you know. I’m talking about something that, you know, is a part of my life.”

A national correspondent for The Atlantic, his June 2014 cover story, “The Case for Reparations,” was his controversial ticket to prominence. His argument: that the wealth gap (“For every nickel of wealth that the average black family has, a white family has a dollar”) is the result of a long history of discriminatory housing policies, and must be redressed.

To Coates, “the very idea of uplift is the thing that is most threatening.”

Suddenly, he was the nation’s lightning rod on race.

An excerpt from the new book, published recently in The Atlantic, contends that Donald Trump couldn’t have been elected had his predecessor not been Barack Obama.

Barge Type: Know Your Spitzen From Your Clip

Barge Type: Know Your Spitzen From Your Clip

For newcomers to barge holidays, all barges may look the same. However, there are many types of ships with striking differences in history and design. This model evolved over 200 years, adapting to changing conditions and technology. In Europe, the barge – ships barges – connecting the English Channel, Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Here is a brief overview of the most common vessels you might encounter on your barge vacation.
Tjalks and Klippers Barge Type: Know Your Spitzen From Your Clip

This barging tradition can be traced back to the seventeenth century. Originally wind-powered Tjalks were built of wood; In the nineteenth century, ship builders began to consider the possibility of iron and on twentieth century steel properties exploited by this industry. Therefore, the modern version of Tjalk is constructed of iron or steel, yet retains the stern arch of indigenous wood.

Designed for fast-flowing estuaries and rivers in the Netherlands, the tough Klipper is always built of iron or steel. The use of steel leads to a stronger vessel, although this introduces the danger of corrosion. Klipper’s steering sat under a stern round and ridden with wheels. Beurtmotor and Luxemotor

Beurtmotor is used for passengers and cargo and often travels to a reliable schedule, replacing steam-powered steamers. It became even more popular with the introduction of diesel engines because their scheduling was more consistent than ever before. Like other barges, Beurtmotor was built to navigate the shallow waters – anywhere between 3 and about 10 feet of water. However this is not a limitation, as most inland waters in western Europe conform to this requirement.

Luxemotor trailblazing was built in the early 20th century and was the first barge to have its own machine. Driving on Beurtmotor’s success, they are quite luxurious with plenty of space – including kitchens and toilets – as well as a pointy bow that is ideal for more open waters.

Spitz

Spitz has a long and varied history. They were built to the standard of Freycinet imposed by Napoleon during the standardization period, and the ship was first withdrawn by hand (or horse). However, after the Second World War many Belgian Spitz ships were kitted out with tank machines that were often disabled. With some adjustments at the stern to fix the wheel, the Spitz Motor version is designed for canals in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

European Air Line: Our Fleet

The European Airway fleet includes a barge with lots of history behind them. Vacation barges match the history lover and cruise ship enthusiasts. For example, L’Art de Vivre – the oldest fleet – is an English model and built in the First World War to supply allied forces in the Somme. The beautiful Rosa is the Dutch Clipper carrying a variety of cargo in the early 20th century Dutch. Both now enjoy retirement by walking the beautiful streets of France, lovingly recovering in a way that celebrates their stunning legacy. Barge Type: Know Your Spitzen From Your Clip

Ski in the New Year at These Top Resorts

Ski in the New Year at These Top Resorts

New Year’s Eve is supposed to be the biggest party of the year, but too often it is a let-down and no different to your average night out. This year, why not see out 2017 with a bang by jetting off for an exhilarating ski break? Ski resorts are superb places to see in the New Year as you can shred the slopes and then party till the early hours in the fresh snow under an endless blanket of stars. This certainly beats paying to go to the local pub back home!
There are plenty of great resorts around Europe that have wild New Year’s Eve parties and excellent skiing, but here are a few of the best:

Meribel

Meribel is always a cracking place for New Year and a favourite with Brits. The parties kick off with a cool torch-lit descent to the Chaudanne area where there is an enormous fireworks display. You are spoilt for choice for epic parties after this, and a lively atmos-phere sweeps across the entire resort. Le Rond Point is a popular spot if you want to see in 2018 by dancing until the early hours, whilst Le Poste de Secours is the place to be for cocktails. Jacks and Dicks Tea Bar are also worth checking out.

In terms of skiing, Meribel has lots of great runs and easy access to the 600km slopes across Le Trois Valleys – perfect!

Tignes

The NYE parties at Tignes are legendary and the best choice for raucous party animals. They host the biggest free outdoor party in all of Europe, as the resort is transformed into a mammoth open-air music festival that goes on well into January 1st. Thumping tunes, fireworks and fire displays in the snow under the stars is the perfect way to end the year! Tignes always pulls huge names too, such as David Guetta and Joachim Garraud.

What better way to cure your hangover than hitting the slopes? Tignes has excellent conditions, 150 km of local slopes and access to Val d’Isère if you wish.

Val d’Isère

Val d’Isère is, in my humble opinion, the prettiest town in the Alps and a great setting for a special New Year’s Eve. It is home to many excellent bars, pubs and clubs, so you should easily be able to find something that suits your taste for the big night. Places like the Doudoune Club pull big names and even rival some UK clubs! Additionally, the town centre is an amazing place to be when the clock strikes 12 as everyone comes together for a grand countdown and champagne showers.

As most of the slopes being above 2500m, there will be terrific skiing on offer here too.

Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen in Tyrol, Austria is another popular destination for NYE thanks to the variety of options on offer. It is home to lots of cool establishments, most notably the Ice Bar and Gasthof Bruecke which both have wild NYE parties with live music and dancing on tables deep into the new year. Another reason that I recommend Mayrhofen is the New Year’s Eve train, which is a party train from Jenbach to Mayrhofen which stops off for live music and drinks at each stop! There is also a horse-drawn carriage procession to the snowy racecourse on New Year’s Day (if you’re not too hungover!).

Mayrhofen also has 159 km of piste and features Austria’s steepest run – Harakiri.

Any of these resorts would be a superb choice for an unforgettable New Year filled with snow, skiing, partying and joy. Shuttle Direct can get you, your troops and all your ski gear to any of these resorts with ease, so you can sit back and start planning how to bring in 2018!
